Biodiversity assessment and Conservation
A key to effective conservation is the knowledge of species present in an area, its distribution patterns in terms of space and time. We are working with a community centered approach using a citizen science approach by developing local capacities in biodiversity assessment and monitoring and integrating the results in a scientific platform for use by planners and conservationists. Some of the key activities that we undertake are mentioned below
- Assessment of the floral and faunal species
- People’s Biodiversity Register (PBR) and Bio-cultural protocols (BCP) of Uttarakhand
- People’s Biodiversity Register (PBR) of Haryana
- Impact of Anthropogenic factors on Aglar river ecosystem during Maun Mela (A Fishing Festival) of Uttarakhand through Holistic approach
- Mapping of surface water availability, assessment of aquatic indicator species, water quality analysis, recovery and conservation of threatened aquatic fauna
- Habitat Management: Mapping and Enhancing the wildlife habitat through management practices
